How to obtain your domain password to transfer an existing domain

**** Do not mistake this with the usual password you may use ****
it is a special password that is used only to transfer a domain name

If you already have an existing domain name that you would like to transfer over to us you need to have the domain password. We include the cost of your domain name renewal but can only do this by transferring it to our servers so we can activate our sitebuilder system for you.

Every domain name registered has a Domain Password (it used to be called a registry key) that is used to manage the domain. The password is required to make updates to contact information listed against the domain, and is used to authorise requests to redelegate domains (move between hosting companies). In the case of .au domain names the password also has other important functions such as authorising a transfer.

You normally get issued you with a random Domain Password when your domain is first registered. This is sent by the means you select during registration (normally email, although you may have also chosen to receive the information by other methods such as fax or post).

Automated Domain Password Recovery
If you have lost the Domain Password, please use the Domain Password Recovery form online provided by AuDA (the Australian Domain Name Adminstrator - see
auda.org.au). This will send the password to the email address currently on file as the administrative contact person for the domain, and is an automated service.

For your security it is not possible to automatically send the key to a different address.
